IDS sell it's GeoRadar Division to Hexagon

IDS has completed the sale of its GeoRadar division to Leica Geosystems AG, part of Hexagon AB. The GeoRadar division’s role within IDS was to design, manufacture and market IDS’s civil interferometric and ground penetrating radar systems. IDS first started investigating and developing GPR technologies in 1991. In 1997 IDS launched the RIS MF, the first multi-channel, multi-frequency GPR dedicated to underground mapping. The introduction of the first completely digital radar control unit followed in 2004 and then in 2006 IDS introduced its first interferometric radar for slope and structure monitoring. IDS GeoRadar is now one of the three leading manufacturers of GPR equipment in the world and hence the IDS mission, to create innovative new technologies in niche areas and to then develop them through to maturity, has been fulfilled.

For clients of IDS GeoRadar, they will benefit from being able to access more complete solutions that also integrate the technology of Leica Geosystems and to also access the large worldwide support infrastructure of Leica Geosystems and Hexagon. The new ownership enables the GeoRadar offerings to step up a level in market presence, both in regards to market penetration and in the range of solutions.

Hexagon have posted the following information regarding the transaction on their website here.
